Supporting Our Community: Local Food & Crisis Resources Across Central Nebraska

Updated October 30, 2025

At Alfrey & Pruitt Counseling Services, we believe mental health care doesn’t stop at the therapy room door. Stability, safety, and access to basic needs are the foundation of emotional wellbeing. Many of the families and individuals we serve across central Nebraska face real challenges meeting those needs—especially as food costs rise and assistance programs fluctuate.

To make things a little easier, we’ve created a guide to local food, crisis, and community resources across Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney, and Aurora. These organizations provide free or low-cost food, transportation, crisis, and mental health support.
